POSTDOCS

Our lab is always interested in recruiting postdoctoral fellows. Most successful postdoc applicants to my lab have experience in one or more of the following areas: (1) computational data analysis, particularly focused on single-cell data; (2) Mathematical biology, particularly mathematical modeling; (3) Biophysical modeling supported by in vitro biochemistry. The research interests of our lab are extremely broad, however, so if you find any of our work fascinating feel free to contact us. Interested applicants, please email your CV and cover letter to Prof. Deeds,  deeds a.t. UCLA dot edu.

GRADUATE STUDENTS

We do not admit graduate students directly to the lab. If you are interested in pursuing graduate studies with us, please apply to an appropriate graduate program here at UCLA. Most Ph.D. students in the lab join through the Bioinformatics IDP, the Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative Physiology, and the MB-IDP (specifically BBSB). Students admitted through any of these programs do a research rotation in the lab during their first year. Current first-year students, please contact us for information about rotation availability.

TRAINING ENVIRONMENT

UCLA is an amazing place to do Ph.D. or postdoc training in computational biology. The Institute for Quantitative and Computational Biosciences (QCBio) organizes a large and diverse group of labs across campus into a single research community focused on computational biology, and provides a fantastic environment for students and postdocs. There are ample opportunities to engage with other members of the community, and students and postdocs regularly present in a number of ongoing seminars and research-in-progress talks organized by QCBio. There are also numerous ongoing seminars that attract outstanding scientists from around the world to present their work. Our lab is located in the state-of-the-art, recently-renovated QCBio space on the 5th floor of Boyer Hall, with access to sophisticated experimental and computational resources.
